For anyone not familiar with the Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender, we need to point out that this isn't the movie by James Cameron, but instead it’s a cartoon that's a huge hit with the kids. The game is made up of chapters, very freely based on the episodes of the cartoon. From the very beginning, players are immersed in the world they loved and encouraged to interact. The gameplay involves exploration, combat, and puzzles, for a fun variety of activities. Breaking boxes to win coins, solving puzzles, facing fearsome enemies and competing in Temple Run races, it's a really varied experience. More original yet, this 3D third-person action game serves up a unique experience with its 2D puzzle sequences. Some minigames require two players to play, but the main adventure is single-player. Despite this, the levels go by clearly enough, punctuated with written narrative sequences that add some depth to the plot. We liked the beautiful cutscenes that explain the plot to players who aren't familiar with the series. Our favourite part? The ability to play as nine iconic characters from the Avatar universe, each with their own unique skills and fighting styles. This variety means that players can experience the adventure from different perspectives, and you can even go back and replay earlier levels with a different character for loads of replayability. On top of all that, you'll collect certain seals during challenges or by completing side quests that let you upgrade your characters. A little tip to help you on your way: The cabbage seller – a nod to longstanding fans of the series – regularly appears throughout the levels. Players with the audacity to damage his cart are rewarded with coins, turning this act of vandalism into a lucrative side-line. Avatar: The Last Airbender - Quest for Balance serves up a fun journey through the series' universe. It successfully captures the spirit of the adventure, the themes of personal growth, and the charm of the cartoon. It is vital to know that this game was especially designed for a younger audience, with combat, platforming, and puzzles all designed to be as accessible as possible. As for co-op mode, it's a fun experience and perfect for having some fun with friends or quality time with the kids.
